Train
Journey to Fort William & Mallaig
This journey is mandatory! Nowhere in Europe,
far less the UK, can you travel by train through totally uncharted
wilderness.
A magnificent railway journey from Rannoch to Mallaig via Fort William
with return on the same day. The railway runs for much of the way
through virgin wilderness hill and moorland, where there are no roads
or habitation. A taste of the real Scottish Highlands without the
effort of walking!
Firstly check for train times at the Tourist Information Centre in
the Square in Aberfeldy. (01887 820276) Normally departs Rannoch around
10am – return around 6 - 7 pm
Take your car to Rannoch Station (allow at least 1 good hour from
here).
The
Pitlochry Festival Theatre
Repertory from May 4th to 13th October.
Just ½ hr by car from your cottage, experience London standards
of theatre, sets and acting.
In main season a different play each night, mainly light comedy.
This another major attraction in the area, really not to miss. Just
pop in on a morning visit to Pitlochry, have a coffee in the restaurant,
and savour the vitality and excitement of the location during the
day. Book for your choice of play or concert. In addition to repertory
there are also separate concerts and shows featuring big bands,
Scottish fiddlers, classical music, Gilbert & Sullivan etc.
